The Life of a Brother of St. John

We live a life of constant prayer, living in community with our brothers and ministering to those around us. Our apostolates in Denver focus on retreats, families, leadership and young people.

Who we are

Community Life

We live in close-knit communities, centered around prayer and mutual support.

The Habit

We wear the traditional Cistercian work habit, signifying our commitment to poverty and simplicity.

We spend hours in prayer each day, including Eucharistic adoration and the Liturgy of the Hours.

A desire to know the truth in all its fullness is an essential component of our personal and communal life.

The Beauty of Liturgy & Prayer

The Divine Office

We pray the Psalms and other prayers throughout the day, guided by the rhythm of the Liturgical seasons.

The Rosary

Our Lady’s prayer is a daily staple. Through reflecting on the life of Christ, she helps us to grow in holiness and love.

Adoration & Benediction

We spend time before the Eucharistic Lord, contemplating his face and receiving his grace. Jesus is our life and our strength!

Prayer & Community

Our life of prayer is centered around the Eucharistic sacrifice, which gives us the strength to serve others and bring Christ into their lives.

Apostolates with Family & Groups

Marriage Preparation

We help prepare engaged couples for the sacrament of matrimony, sharing the beauty and wisdom of the Church’s teaching.

Regina Caeli Hermitage offers retreats and days of recollection for individuals and groups, helping them to grow in love, faith, and virtue on their journey.

Home Visits

We visit families in their homes, offering them spiritual guidance, friendship, and support in their joys and struggles. We pray with them and encourage them in the faith.

We love the treasury of the Church’s liturgical celebrations and beautiful sacred music. We prepare carefully for Mass and worship the Trinity with reverence.

St. John

We have a special devotion to St. John the Apostle, following his example as the beloved disciple, receiving the Blessed Virgin Mary as our Mother.

Closing Remarks

We are deeply grateful for the grace and mercy God has shown us in calling us to this way of life.

Joy & Peace

Our life is one of joy and peace, even in the midst of difficulties and struggles. We find our hope in God, who sustains and strengthens us.

We invite all those who feel called to come and share our way of life, to discern if this might be the path that God is calling them to.
