In celebration of Black History Month, the Archdiocese of Denver is pleased to present a screening of the movie, A Place at the Table: African Americans on the Path to Sainthood, directed by David Michael Warren on Saturday, February 17th. Currently, there are no African Americans formally recognized as saints within the Catholic Church. However, that could soon change.
This full-length documentary tells the stories of the six incredible men and women who are on the path to canonization: Pierre Toussaint, Mother Henriette Delille, Father Augustus Tolton, Mother Mary Lange, Sister Thea Bowman, and Denver’s own Angel of Charity, Julia Greeley. Sponsored by the Office of Black Catholic Ministry, the event will begin at 1 pm in Brady Hall at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish at 2301 York Street, Denver 80205.
Hosted by the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary, all are invited to view this film and partake in fellowship. Admission is free of charge.
